The Daily Grind

Yay! So, I decided to start making a column. Yes, a column! I’ll write this once a week and it’ll be like the only guaranteed thing to be up at any given time. Tuesdays, check out the new The Daily Grind. :D Here we go.

Well, my mom IMed me this morning with this link. Apparently, Lego is closing down a lot of its factories in the US and moving things overseas, namely to the Czech Republic.

So, first thing.

“This is the last essential element in the restructuring of the group’s supply line,” Lego CEO Joergen Vig Knudstorp said in a statement.

“We now see the contour of a new business model, where we go from traditional integrated model to a partnership model.”

Okay. This guy’s name is weird. Joergen? Mom says it’s pronounced your-gin. That is one fricking weird name.

Second of all, they say that they sold the LegoLand parks:

In 2005, the company sold off its four Legoland amusement parks in Billund, Denmark; in Windsor near London; in Carlsbad, California, and in Munich, Germany to the U.S.-based private equity group Blackstone Capital Partners.

When in 2005 was this? The Legoland parks are still open, and, um… c’mon! I guess it just must be that Lego doesn’t own the property anymore. But they’re still Legoland! Yay!

Alright, now for the next topic. I want a MacBook. I have wanted one since before I even knew that they were coming out with them. I want an Apple laptop, goddamnit, and this is an Apple laptop!

And I think my mom is still debating with herself over whether she should buy it for me (I call it ‘helping me pay for it’ since I do have at least half the money for it). I really think she should, I would totally love it. They’re so much better than Windows machines. And plus, if I really need to, I can go buy a copy of Windows at Best Buy and install it using Boot camp or Parallels.

I think that about wraps it up for this week’s column. I know it was short and that it sucked, but hopefully they’ll be better in the future! See ya next time!
